Warrap State Government to open new road

Jun 12, 2013

12 June 2013 – On 17 June 2013, the Government of Warrap State with UNDP will open the new 85km, road which will link Warrap, Akop, Pakur and Mashraar communities.  The road, started in December 2011, was identified by the Warrap State Government as a project that will contribute significant steps towards security and development for the communities.

The Warrap-Mashraar road project is a key output under the Warrap Stabilization Programme (WSP) funded by the South Sudan Recovery Fund (SSRF). The SSRF is UN Multi Donor Trust Fund with contributions from the Governments of Denmark, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development. UNDP is the Coordinating Agency of the Warap Stabilization Project and UNOPS is the responsible agency for managing implementation of the Warrap-Mashraar road project. The SSRF focuses on extending state authority into insecure areas through large-scale infrastructure projects that aim to prevent conflict and stabilize communities.
