Training of DDR Counsellors to be held 30 Master Trainers will be trained to educate psycho-social professionals under the new DDR ProgrammeAug 15, 2012
Juba: The Republic of South Sudan DDR Commission (RSSDDRC) and the Ministry of Defence and Veterans’ Affairs (MOD&VA) in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and with support from the Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF) will be conducting a training for 30 DDR (Disarmament, Demobilisation, and Reintegration) counsellors beginning on 21 August 2012 at the Regency Hotel in Juba, South Sudan. This training will run from 21 August 2012 to 14 September 2012 and aims to equip 30 Master Trainers with the appropriate teaching skills and psychosocial knowledge to allow them to train psychosocial para-professionals under the new National DDR Programme.
A robust Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR) programme is critical to security and stability in a post-conflict nation so that recovery and development can begin. Reintegration is the main measure of success for DDR as it helps ex-combatants cultivate new economic livelihoods and ultimately builds new lives and communities. By training Master Trainers UNDP can support the Government and the RSSDDRC in providing a wide range of services to ex-combatants on a large scale.
