  • County Headquarters handed over to the Eastern Equatoria Government Nov 5, 2012

    The South Sudan Recovery Fund (SSRF) handed over the newly constructed County Headquarters to the Government of Eastern Equatoria on Tuesday 30 October in Kapoeta South, Eastern Equatoria State. The Governments of the Netherlands, Norway and United Kingdom are the three donors to the SSRF.

  • South Sudan to launch Crime Statistics Reports Oct 8, 2012

    05 October 2012 – Juba: The South Sudan National Police Service (SSNPS) will release two Quarterly Crimes Statistics reports detailing crime rates, trends, and analysis for the last two quarters on Tuesday 9 October 2012 9:00am at Juba Grand Hotel. UNDP and UNPOL, with funding support from the Government of Japan, have provided technical support to the SSNPS at both the national and state level in the collection and analysis of crime statistics.

  • National Customary Law Centre to open in Rumbek Aug 28, 2012

    The CLC is the first institution of its kind in Africa and is expected to facilitate coordination between government and other stakeholders of the customary justice system. The CLC will also provide advice and training for all branches of Government on matters of customary law and serve as the repository for all relevant customary law research and reference materials.

  • Training of DDR Counsellors to be held 30 Master Trainers will be trained to educate psycho-social professionals under the new DDR Programme Aug 15, 2012

    This training will run from 21 August 2012 to 14 September 2012 and aims to equip 30 Master Trainers with the appropriate teaching skills and psychosocial knowledge to allow them to train psychosocial para-professionals under the new National DDR Programme.

  • Community Security Roundtable and Report Launch Jul 19, 2012

    The Launch of five Community Consultation reports and the Roundtable Discussion on Community Security in South Sudan will be held on Friday 20 July at the UNDP Compound. These five reports are based on consultations with communities in Eastern Equatoria, Lakes, Unity, Upper Nile and Warrap States, which were led by the Bureau for Community Security and Small Arms Control (BCSSAC) and the Peace Commission, with technical support from UNDP and financial support from Canada, the UK Department for International Development (DFID), the European Union, the Netherlands and other donors.

  • Decentralization Roundtable Meeting to be held Jun 27, 2012

    The Roundtable Meeting on Decentralization will be held 28 and 29 June at the South Sudan Hotel. Organized by the Office of the President - Directorate of Inter-Governmental Linkages, Council of States, Local Government Board and with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), this two-day meeting will examine the current policy and regulatory frameworks and the institutional arrangement and mandates for the implementation of decentralization, and consider progress towards decentralization.

  • South Sudan to launch South Sudan Statistical Yearbook Jun 18, 2012

    The Statistical Yearbook 2011 has compiled statistics covering conditions in South Sudan, including agriculture, demographics, education, health, housing, labour and macroeconomic indicators. These statistics are critical to help Government in developing policies that will contribute to the development of South Sudan while also providing a baseline from which to track progress on development, economic growth and progress in achieving the Millennium Development Goals.

  • South Sudan presents the first Environmental Impacts, Risks and Opportunities Assessment Report Mar 26, 2012

    The Ministry of the Environment and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will be presenting the Environmental Impacts, Risks and Opportunities Assessment (EIRO) Report on Wednesday 28 March 2012.

  • South Sudan Human Rights Commission Launches Human Rights Education and Awareness Creation Programme Mar 26, 2012

    This activity is one of several strategies put in place by the Human Rights Commission to raise awareness about human rights and legal protections in South Sudan. The Commission is working to build synergies with appropriate government institutions and agencies to foster a respect for human rights.

  • Closing ceremony: Financial management training for local government officers Dec 14, 11

    JUBA - The three-week Financial Management Training for Local Government Officers is concluding on Friday 16 December at the Government Accounting Training Centre (GATC).
