UNDP Country Director hands over furniture to the Ministry of Federal AffairsOct 12, 2016
UNDP’s Democracy Governance and Stabilization Unit works to support the establishment of conditions for peace and development in South Sudan. Today the team has provided a set of furniture to the newly formed Ministry of Federal Affairs (MoFedA).
“We had nothing when the ministry was created, absolutely nothing, no cars, not even a place. The Local Government Board provided us with a place and now UNDP is supporting us with furniture. We are thankful that UNDP is taking the initiative to help this ministry”, declared Hon. Dr. Richard K Mula, Minister of Federal Affairs.
The Ministry was formed under a resolution of the peace agreement and was stablished with the aim of strengthening national and sub-national intergovernmental linkages and relations in the country, but the lack of public resources has been a major challenge. UNDP is supporting the MoFedA providing office furniture and equipment to facilitate the developing of its mandate.
“What we are giving today shouldn’t be seen as furniture but as a way to support peace and development in South Sudan. This is the beginning of a stronger partnership with which we are sowing the seeds of the future of this country”, expressed UNDP Country Director, Kamil Kamaluddeen.
UNDP will also support this ministry facilitating a consultative workshop for the establishment of MoFedA, with the collaboration of GiZ, who coordinates the members of the Technical Committee.
