UNDP provides vocational training opportunities at Juba Central Prison to reduce re-offending and increase livelihoods

While the National Prison Service of South Sudan is faced with a number of challenges including the improvement of rehabilitation facilities, the Prison Service has been working closely with UNDP to build a professional Prisons Service. Following a vocational needs assessment, UNDP’s Access to Justice and Rule of Law Project, with generous funds from the Government of the Netherlands, is providing support to the National Prison Service of South Sudan to construct vocational training workshops at Juba Central Prison as a pilot.

UNDP strengthens democratic engagement and participation of communities in Internally Displaced Persons camps

The series of community dialogues which take place in two Protection of Civilian (PoC) and two IDP camps in Juba, are managed by the Integrated Development Organisation (IDO), with technical support from UNDP, and with generous funds via small grants from the Government of Sweden. Since October 2015, the community dialogues are held with selected community leaders based on their different ethnic groups, age and gender.
