Third Governs’ Forum adopts key recommendations on service delivery for local development in South Sudan
Held under the theme ‘Transparent and Accountable Service Delivery for Local Development’, the ten state governors or their representatives, national ministers and heads of commissions re-affirmed their commitment to state building and set out a concrete action plan for achieving transparency and accountability in service delivery.

The Government of Japan has approved US $300,000 (29,475,000 Japanese Yen) to UNDP to support the constitutional review process in the Republic of South Sudan. The funding, provided through the Japan-UNDP Partnership Fund, will support the activities of South Sudan’s National Constitutional Review Commission in holding public consultations, especially with women, supporting media strategies to galvanise public participation, as well as the printing and distribution of the Transitional Constitution 2011.

Anti-Corruption Investigators complete training in advanced investigation techniques to fight corruption
20 Anti-Corruption Investigators from the South Sudan Anti Corruption Commission (SSACC) completed a week-long training workshop on advanced techniques in corruption investigation to achieve better results in combating corruption.

Judy Cheng-Hopkins, UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support commends IGAD initiative
Ms. Judy Cheng-Hopkins expressed her admiration for the initiative, which differs from traditional development modalities and seeks to foster South-South cooperation. Describing the relationship between South Sudan and its East African neighbours as unique, she praised this approach as an important step to regional peace and stability and pledged to be a Goodwill Ambassador for the initiative.

The Roundtable Meeting on Decentralization will be held 28 and 29 June at the South Sudan Hotel. Organized by the Office of the President - Directorate of Inter-Governmental Linkages, Council of States, Local Government Board and with support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), this two-day meeting will examine the current policy and regulatory frameworks and the institutional arrangement and mandates for the implementation of decentralization, and consider progress towards decentralization.

During the Governor’s Forum held at the South Sudan Legislative Assembly 14th – 17th November, the ten state Governors, together with their State Ministers of Finance, Speakers of the State Legislature, members of the National Legislature, and key national Ministers under the leadership of the Vice President H.E. Dr. Riek Machar Teny, discussed the next steps for the South Sudan Development Plan (SSDP). The Governors’ Forum is organized by the Office of the President with support from UNDP.
