South Sudan Update Volume 6 Issue 117 Apr 2014
UNDP in South Sudan commenced a gradual resumption of programmes and operations with critical staff returning to Juba by 20 January 2014. As of 31 March 2014, over 95% staff are back at work and ready to stay and deliver. Whilst the crisis has constrained UNDP projects especially in the three most affected states of South Sudan (Upper Nile, Unity and Jonglei), important support to development programmes and early recovery activities at the national and state level are ongoing.
During the month of January 2014, the country office held consultative meetings with the Government of the Republic of South Sudan, donor partners, commissions, civil society and the UN Mission. The country office finalized an integrated short to medium term Crisis and Prevention and Recovery (CPR) programme covering the period of 2014-2015.
